Hofner Bass Humbucker

Posted by Martin A Smith on

A recurring theme with Hofner pickups is how they tend to fail after 40-50 years, thanks to corrosion caused by the solder flux they used reacting with the coil wire coating, and this one was no different.

Sometimes these designs are actually sigle coils, but this one turned out to be a humbucker.

Both coils needed to be rewound to bring it back to life, and now it should last a lot longer than the original coils did.
