This PRS "Vintage Bass" humbucker came in with one dead coil, which looked like it had been on the receiving end of a stray screwdriver blade while being installed.

Once I had got the tape off the coil, I could see that the damage had caused the hook-up wire to come away from the coil wire.

This meant it was nice easy fix to attach a new hook-up wire, avoiding the need for a rewind.
